Sensohive brings IoT to life with wireless sensor solutions

Denmark’s first food technology accelerator kicked off as part of Scale-up Denmark in August 2016. Sensohive was one of the selected few to join the accelerator with their high potential IoT sensors that provide automatic temperature logging for restaurants. The sensors can thereby reduce manual documentation tasks, send SMS notifications in case of exceeding high temperatures and provide energy savings.

Meet CEO Casper Harlev from Sensohive in this short interview about their startup and their participation in the food tech accelerator.

Describe your startup in a few sentences: Enabling data driven decisions by humans and machines with wireless sensor solutions. The first solution introduced is an automatic temperature documentation and alert solution for food companies to make sure they store and process food under the correct conditions.

How did you get the idea to start your business? We founded the company after studying at the university. We were a group of engineers working with low energy technologies and data collection system. We believed that a much more intelligent and easier solution gather data and analyze data could be developed.

How does your product work? Our solution consists of 4 elements: sensor, connectivity, cloud and a user interface. Our partner Sigfox delivers the connectivity for our clients, which enables our clients to use our sensors without installing any local networks. This saves time and reduces the complexity in the solution.

Why did you apply for the food tech accelerator? We had introduced our beta-version successfully on the market before the accelerator. We could see the potential in the finished product was huge, so professional and qualified sparring was needed to make a successful market launch.

What impact have your participation in the accelerator had for your growth opportunities? We have gained valuable experience by working with our own company during the 8 camps in the program. Working on your own company with lectures and mentoring from some of the best is a unique opportunity.

What is your key learning so far from your journey in the accelerator? How important it is to cover all the aspects of your company. It is important not to forget in which direction you are running your company. To get people from outside to look at your company gives you new insight to continue your growth.

Danmarks første fødevareteknologi accelerator startede ud som del af Scale-Up Denmark I august 2016. Muliggør data drevne beslutninger af mennesker og maskiner med trådløse sensor løsninger. Den første løsning introduceret, er en automatisk temperaturdokumentation- og advarselsløsning for fødevare virksomheder, for at sikre, at de opbevarer og behandler mad under de rigtige forhold.

Hvordan fik I ideen til at starte jeres forretning?

Vi grundlagde virksomheden efter at have studeret på universitetet. Vi var en gruppe ingeniører der arbejdede med lavenergi teknologier og data indsamlingssystemer. Vi mente, at en meget mere intelligent og lettere løsning til at samle data og analysere data kunne blive udviklet.

Hvordan virker jeres produkt?

Vores løsning består af 4 elementer: sensorer, forbindelse, skyen og en brugerflade. Vores partner Sigfox leverer en forbindelse for vores klienter, som muliggør vores klienters brug af vores sensorer uden at skulle installere lokale netværk. Det sparer tid og reducerer kompleksiteten i vores løsning.

Hvorfor ansøgte I til fødevareteknologi acceleratoren? 

Vi havde introduceret vores beta-version succesfuldt på markedet før acceleratoren. Vi kunne se, at potentialet i det færdiggjorte produkt var stort, så professionel og kvalificeret sparring var nødvendigt for at lave en succesfuld markedslancering.

Hvilken betydning har jeres deltagelse i programmet haft for jeres vækstmuligheder?

Vi har fået værdifuld erfaring ved at arbejde med vores egen virksomhed I løbet af de 8 camps i programmet. At arbejde med din egen virksomhed med lektioner og mentorordninger fra nogle af de bedste, er en unik mulighed.

Hvad er jeres vigtigste læring fra jeres rejse i acceleratorprogrammet?

Hvor vigtigt det er at dække alle aspekter af din virksomhed. Det er vigtigt ikke at glemme, i hvilken retning du løber din virksomhed i. At få folk ude fra til at kigge på din virksomhed, giver dig ny indsigt til at fortsætte din vækst.
